I recently got to spend some time with portfolio course students at Glasgow School of Art!
The portfolio course at GSA is where I got to spend a year experimenting and gathering myself before starting at art school, and it was a real treat to be able to return and share some skills with students there
We went over a few simple methods for making books, letting them experiment with folding, cutting, layering and sewing. The students were using their own work as the starting point, and by altering the structure through binding, they were able to find new compositions and ways to understand their work.
Everyone took it in a totally different direction, and it was great to see where the work ended up at the end of the day. There was some really great work made.
